Nick Filaseta Obituary
Nick Filaseta
age 92, born July 18, 1920 in Waynesburg, Ohio, passed away following a brief illness, on March 29, 2013 in Sagamore Hills, Ohio surrounded by love. Nick served proudly in World War II as an Army Air Corps crew chief from 1940-1945. He was an auto mechanic by trade. He prided himself in his Italian heritage. He enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved cars, planes, reading, nature, children, dogs and working in and around the house, which he proudly built in North Canton, Ohio. He especially loved spending warm summer days outside working in his beautiful vegetable garden tending to his tomato and pepper plants. He greeted everyone he met with a simple smile and approached everything in life with a positive attitude. His life focused around being an honorable, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. Most importantly, Nick was loved deeply by his family and by the many friends he made throughout his life. Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Filomena (Pucci) Filaseta as well as his nephew, Dennis Kendle.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Violet (Dogoli) Filaseta of North Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Nikkie and Donald Kinsley of North Canton; daughter, Toni Filaseta of Sagamore Hills, Ohio; grandson, Donny Kinsley of Canton; sister, Esther Kendle of Canton; brother, Leonard Filaseta of Columbus, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Terry (Dwayne) Kendle, Norman (Marsha) Kendle, Kenny (Nancy) Kendle and Gary (Judy) Filaseta; and his caregiver and friend, Brian Heubush of Cleveland, who made it possible for Nick to pass in the home, with love, surrounded by his family. He will never be forgotten. He will forever live on in the hearts and minds of those who love him so. He will be seen in every clear summer sky and every warm summer breeze.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, with the Rev. Fr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 6-7 p.m. in the funeral home. Those wishing to send condolences or share a fond memory, may sign the Reed On-Line Guestbook at
