Ethel M. Brandt (Cordray)
passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013. She was born in Canton, Ohio on Dec. 26, 1921 and was a 1941 graduate of Canton McKinley High School. She retired from Union Metal following 32 years of employment. Ethel belonged to the VFW #3747 and the Ohio Country and Western Organization. She loved dancing at the Polish Club, Mayfield Center, VFW and anywhere playing a good Waltz, Polka or Square Dancing. Besides dancing, she enjoyed golf, bowling, traveling and the flowers in her yard. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; her son, James Arthur; one sister and two brothers.
Survivors include her granddaughter-in-law, Debbie Cortez; great-grandson, Jimmy Brandt; three grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two nieces, Alfreada and Almeda; and her nephew, James Cordray. Also survived by her best friend and traveling partner, Midge and good friend and caretaker, Duane Slutz. A special thank you to Aultman Hospice and Bethany Nursing Home for their kindness and great care.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
