Maxine R. Shipe (King)
97 of North Canton passed away on Sept. 17, 2013. She was born in Canton, Ohio on May 1, 1916 to the late Lester and Ruth Green. Maxine was a receptionist at Troup and Pluto Photography for 34 years retiring in 1981, she was a member of Church of the Lakes, lifetime member of the Pythian Sisters Lodge and past first lady of the Akron Airstream Club. She loved her family, traveling and spending time at Travelers Rest in Dade City, Fla. Preceded in death by her husbands, Donn Gooseman and Clovis King and son, Karl Gooseman.
She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Don Shipe; son, David (Linda) King of N. Canton; daughters, Linda King of Suffield and Macy King of N. Canton; daughter-in-law, Mary Edna Gooseman of Orlando; stepsons, Gary Shipe of Buffalo and Joe Shipe of N. Canton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Crossroads Hospice and her church for their love, care and support.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 at the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel with Pastor Brian George officiating. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5:30-8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
