Nicholas Popovich
70, passed away on Sept. 28, 2013. Born June 16, 1943 in Canton, Ohio, he was an area resident all of his life. Nicholaswas stationed in Germany while serving in the Army. He began his career as a roofer and later was promoted to vice president at Reserve Roofing where he worked for 23 years. He had many loves in his life; the first being Betty, then his grandchildren, Ohio State Buckeyes, fishing and last but not least the Waffle House.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sylvia, and brother John. Nicholas is survived by his loving family; ex wife and best friend, Betty; sons, Eric and Aaron Popovich, and Keith (Bilge) and David (Dawn) Gillentine; grandchildren, Emily, Chelsea, Chad, Alyse and Evan Gillentine, adopted grandson, Steven Keppler; brother, Charles M. (Linda) Popovich of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; sister-in-law, Phyllis Popovich; nephews Chuck, Edward, and Johnny Popovich; niece Kathy Ellis; and many other dear relatives and friends.
Visitation Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hecker Funeral Home in Uniontown. There will also be a visitation on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 550 E. Wilbeth Rd., Akron, Ohio 44301, where funeral services will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Mark Hanchett officiating. Burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. For those wishing, memorials may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church or Happy Trails Farm, 5623 New Milford Rd., Ravenna, OH 44266.
