Florence "Flo"
age 98, passed away Oct. 15, 2013. She was the daughter of Paul and Mary Cristia and was born in Canton, Ohio and a lifelong resident. Flo retired from the Timken Company in February 1973 having worked there 36 years and as a courier she received a safe drivers award. She was a member of Loyal Order of Moose #233, F.O.E. McKinley Ladies Auxillary #2370, also a member of Canton Elks Club #68, Golden Lodge United Steelworkers #1123, Timken Camera Club and Manzer Camera Club. She won many trophies and awards. She also did volunteer work at the Canton Regency Retirement Center in the gift shop and taught crafts. She also volunteered over 20 years at Doctors Hospital in Massillon, Ohio. Also, Aultman Woodlawn North Canton, Ohio. Flo was an avid bowler for many years and bowled on the McKinley Eagles Ladies League at the Hall of Fame Lanes and Senior Citizen's League at Park Center Lanes. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene N. Arnold in 1974; and sisters, Victoria (John) Gramoy, Ann Forester and Mary (Ray) Samoila; brothers, Nicholas, John, John George and John Paul.
Flo is survived by her loving family, daughter, Violet M. (fiance Paul Venditti) Schlarb of Canton; grandsons, Richard (Vicky) of San Diego, Calif. and Guy James of Canton; three great-grandchildren, Jason, Myriah and Jaxon; brother, George Cristia and son, David and daughter, Donna (Carl) Diuk; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and we say thank you for your guidance, your kindness and advice. Thank you for your love and each sacrifice. Thank you for all the good memories we have had and will have. With love, always, your family, relatives and dear friends. Flo was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
Her wishes were to be cremated and her ashes inurned at Sunset Hill Memory Gardens. There will be a Graveside Service at Sunset Hill Memory Garden on Wednesday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church at 2705 6th St. SW, Canton, OH 44710 to the Building Fund or Scholarship Foundation.
