age 65, of 8153 Lake Drive N.E., Mineral City, Ohio (New Cumberland), died early Monday, morning, November 4, 2013 in Union Hospital at Dover after becoming ill at his home.
He was born March 15, 1948 in Massillon, Ohio and was the son of the late Earl George and Donna Ann Lint Derr. Earl was a member of the Lake Drive Fellowship Church at New Cumberland and was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in Viet Nam. He was a member of the Tusco Rifle Club, and at one time enjoyed the sport of hunting. Earl was a voracious reader and possessed a large collection of books.
He is survived by his wife, Tammie Lee Tiffner Derr, whom he married Nov. 2, 1981; a daughter and two sons, Farrah Derr and Jedadiah Derr, both of the home; and Jeramiah (Lisa) Derr of Bolivar, Ohio; his two grandchildren, Kaiden and Kieran Derr, both of Bolivar; and three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Cindy) Weller of Canton, Ohio, Lisa Baus of Massillon, and Mrs. Hugh (Beth) Huffstutler of Trafford, Ala. Also surviving are three half-siblings, Mike Youngman, Debbie Phillips, and Jeff Derr; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Michael Weller of Massillon.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m.. Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 in the Lake Drive Fellowship Church with Pastor Larry Stitt officiating. Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery where the Carroll County combined units of the V.F.W., D.A.V., and American Legion will conduct military graveside services. There are no public calling hours scheduled. The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville is handling arrangements.
