Met him a few times at a mutual friend's house. Always a great man to talk to and will miss the sage advice about his boat and the modifications he made to it (we have the same boat). Fair winds my friend, you will be missed.

Ed was a voice of reason for me, a budding sailor, and a guidance mentor in the too short time we were acquainted. His input in the online sailing community will be missed, and his experience and interest in his many hobbies combined with his zest for life made him a mentor that was quite rare.
Good travels, Ed. May the winds fill your sails, the wind ever be off the port quarter, and the sun soft on your back.

A man of quiet grace, a special presence wherever he walked, rode or sailed. I had the honor of following that wheel for over 35 years. There will be a gap in paceline now, and I can hear Ed saying Close it up, close it up. Godspeed.

This summer Ed help teach our granddaughter Isabella along with many other kids how to sail. He always had a big smile and was so kind. He will be missed at Atwood Yacht Club. Our sympathy to his family and to Karen.

I had honor of sailing many hours with Ed, he was one of the most gifted sailors I have had ever know. His Wonderful attitude about life and his amazing dedication to family and loved ones left its mark on many of us. It was an honor to have known him. Ed set the bar for what we should all strive to Be.

Knew Ed through Yacht Club. Didn't know him well but knew what a very nice man he was. My condolences to his family. Remember him bringing his small sailboat into the dock at the Yacht Club.

Encouraging. Devoted time to others.
Team Shirack to SCBC to Senior Olympics, it was a blessing and honor to be in Coach Schenck's presence.

"Keep pedaling and feather your brakes to adjust speed in the pace line."
"Move one hand near your stem before reaching for water."
"Keep your legs spinning on the downhills."
"Five dollar prime ("preem") for the green CAIRO sign."
TOSRV: Coming upon a crash, "Stop gawking people."
"Slower riders, to the right. Slower riders, to the right."
May the wind be at your back my friend.
