Powers, Dorothy Lacey (Hartman)
Dorothy Hartman Lacey Powers, a.k.a. "Dottie," "Dot," "Mom," "Momcat" and "Nee," passed away on Dec. 3, 2014, at the age of 80. Born in Norwich, Conn., on Oct. 23, 1934, and raised in Waterford, she moved to East Lyme in 1964, where she raised her family of five children, Teri Thompson, Pat Maillet, and Rick Lacey of Connecticut, Steven Lacey of Colorado, and Jonathan Lacey of Wyoming. She relocated to Evergreen with her late husband, Richard B. Powers, in 1983. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2013. Dottie is survived by family all over the country who love her immensely including sisters Ruth Auwood of Connecticut and Mary Thompson of Alabama, her sister-friend Joey Wakeman, her five children, seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, along with two stepchildren and grandchildren, and countless very dear friends. Dottie was always the funniest person in the room. She was kind to children and the elderly. She loved her family with all her heart. She was a generous friend to animals, including her dog Jack, who will miss her very much. Welcoming her to whatever is next are her husband and two sisters, Jean Reagan Seidel and Madeline Kelly. Donations in Dottie's name may be made to Collier Hospice in Wheat Ridge, whose kind and loving staff helped to care for her during the final days of her very full life. Services are to be determined, but will involve laughter, sunshine and fried seafood as Dottie instructed. To write a condolence to the family, visit   Arrangements by Evergreen Mortuary.
