On Feb. 17, 2014, Ardella Smith went home to be with Jesus peacefully while in her home at Evergreen with her husband, Bob Smith, by her side. They had been married 63 years.
Ardella was born on Dec. 2, 1927, in Ada, Minn., to Albert and Olga Fetting. She was the oldest of four children.
Ardella enrolled in St. Luke's School of Nursing and became a registered nurse in 1948. Her training took her to Ada, Minn., Chicago, and eventually to Evergreen. Ardella worked in the family business for 48 years.
Ardella was an avid indoor and outdoor gardener and alpine skier, and loved to be outdoors with her family camping and four-wheeling in the beautiful Colorado backcountry. She shared her strong Christian faith often with many people.
Ardella is survived by her husband, Bob; brother Virgil; sister Angie; brother Darwin (Pete); her daughter, Cindy; her son, Steve; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, Ardella would love a donation to the building fund of her church, Gateway on Mt. Zion Church, 166 S. Lookout Mountain Road, Golden, CO 80401.
