A funeral Mass for David Spores of Morrison will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Evergreen with Father Christopher Renner officiating. Following the reception, burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Denver.
Mr. Spores, 50, was born Feb. 21, 1962, in San Jose, Calif. He passed away after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, in Denver with his mother and siblings at his side.
He grew up in Byron, Minn., and graduated from Byron High School in 1980, and he earned a bachelor's degree in 1984 from St. Thomas College in St. Paul, Minn.
He enjoyed traveling and working for a travel company for many years. His travels took him throughout the United States and frequently overseas. His favorite destination was the Caribbean Islands. He enjoyed sports in high school and college and was a member of the cross-country team at St. Thomas College. He enjoyed amateur sports, particularly track and field in World Championship and Olympic events. He loved his nieces and nephews and was regularly "employed" as a baby-sitter.
Survivors include his mother, Jeanette Kohls of Evergreen; his brother Ronald (wife Mary) of Seattle, Wash., his brother Kenneth (wife Kimberlee) of Durham, N.C., his sister Ann Kenchel (husband Kurt) of Evergreen, and sister Cathi Mitchell (husband Jeff) of Thornton. His father preceded him in death.
