John Henry Golba, 96, of Evergreen passed away Feb. 27, 2014, at his home.
John was born June 23, 1917, in Gardner, Kan., to Joseph and Maryann (Barthol) Golba. He grew up in Gardner, moved to Shawnee, Kan., in 1965, and had lived in Evergreen for the last 37 years.
John married Lois Elizabeth Powell on April 11, 1944, in Edgerton, Kan. He worked on the General Motors
assembly line and was the owner of John Golba and Sons Lawn & Landscaping before moving to Colorado. John was an avid fisherman and pheasant hunter. He enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling and vacationing. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and siblings Frank, Nellie, Ann, Sophie and Edward. John is survived by his children: Charles and wife Becky Golba of Louisburg, Kan., Marylyn and husband Marvin Cansler of Shawnee, Kan., John Golba of Evergreen, Tim Golba of Lenexa, Kan., and Carolyn Golba of Evergreen; his sister, Lucille Brown of Higginsville, Mo.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
