A resident of Evergreen from 1965-2010, Malcolm was often seen at local events. He was an active member of Blue Spruce Kiwanis, Evergreen Elks, the Evergreen Rodeo Association, and the American Legion. He also volunteered for the Seniors' Resource Center's Yellow House, receiving the Senior Heroes award in 2003.

for his service in North Africa during WWII
, he was also a regular visitor around Veterans Day to history students at Evergreen High School.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Elsie, and two granddaughters. He is survived by three daughters, Jean Martine of Littleton, Stephanie Hobbs (John) of Evergreen, and Debbie Shinsky (John) of Buckeye, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
