A beloved wife, mother, sister, friend, colleague, confidant and all-around wonderful woman has been called to the heavens above.
Ruth fought a life-long battle against a rare heart condition developed during her childhood. She rose above her challenges to graduate from the University of Colorado with a bachelor of science degree in nursing, raise a large family and work as a registered nurse in the Grand Junction area.
Always the caretaker, she was proud to be the oldest of five siblings, mother of six children, grandmother to 13 grandchildren and a nurse to anyone who needed her, including her own mother and dear friend, Eva Groves.
Ruth is survived by her husband Tom O'Donnell; her brothers, Jim Groves and Willard Groves; sisters Linda Groves and Diane Groves; her children, James Todd, David Todd, John Todd, Michael Todd, Joe Todd and Laurel Todd Bryan; and her grandchildren, Trey Todd, Autumn Todd, Benjamin Todd, Sebastian Todd, Oscar Todd, Huckleberry-Sage Hammond-Todd, Jonathon Todd, Jacob Todd, Joshua Todd, Azleigha Bryan, Myca Bryan, Zoey Stonestreet and Garren Stonestreet.
The doctors rightly said that her heart was failing, but we all knew she had the best heart of all.
Services were held at the Elks Lodge
in Idaho Springs on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013.
