Christopher James Olson, 42, was born Nov. 22, 1970, in Madison, Wis., and passed away Jan. 3, 2013.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where he received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and became captain of the swimming team, his love of the outdoors brought him to Colorado in 1993. He was a rock climber, hiker, runner, golfer with a smooth swing, and an amazing tennis player.
Chris could also be found in eastern Colorado in the fall chasing upland game birds, another passion. He was an avid fisherman who loved being on the water; however, the trophy muskie always seemed to elude him.
Chris was a member of the Benevolent and Protected Order of Elks and the Evergreen Area Chamber of Commerce. Chris was a local business owner of FASA Home Technologies and always gave back to the community.
Loved by all he touched, Chris always had a positive attitude, no matter the adversity. A die-hard Packers and Badgers fan, he would always find a place to watch "the games."
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Olson.
Survivors include father Jim Olson, stepmother Mary "Biz" Olson, uncles Bill and Gary Olson, grandmother Julia, and former wife Paula Tormey. Chris will be missed but never forgotten.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Evergreen Elks Lodge on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 5 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be sent to the American Humane Society in remembrance of Chris' love for animals.
