Timothy John Walgren, born Aug. 1, 1947, passed away on Jan. 3, 2014, after a long illness.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda, of 32 years; his mother, Margaret; his daughters, Betsy (Bobby) Erwin of Vermont and Jill (Alex) Stansbury of Idaho Springs; son Brent Wuethrich of Evergreen; brothers Kenneth (Diane) Walgren of Fenton, Mo., William (Suna) Walgren of Doraville, Ga., and Stephen (Lynn) Walgren of Hansville, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Eugene Walgren, and grandparents W.E. and Myrtle McElveen and John and Gertrude Walgren.
He was a graduate of Wheat Ridge High School and attended the University of Denver on a music scholarship. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in education and geology. He did some teaching after graduation, then served his country during the Vietnam War in the Chaplain Corps.
Tim's major contribution was as a materials purchaser for Alumax and Alcoa Aluminum Refineries. His position took him all over the world, from Switzerland to China. He also served as project director for the building of an aluminum plant in Moncks Corner, S.C.
One of his passions was music - specifically singing. Previously he sang with the Evergreen Chorale and the choir at Evergreen Lutheran Church. He was also an active member of Dorchester Presbyterian Church during his time in South Carolina, serving as an elder and singing with the choir.
His other passion was skiing, and he loved skiing in the Rockies, France, Switzerland or wherever there was powder.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 19, 2014, at Evergreen Lutheran Church, 5980 Highway 73.
