The Guest Book is expired.

It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Alexander Kirkland on Oct. 26, 2017, in Denver.
Bruce was born in Morristown, N.J., in 1934 and lived in Morristown/New Vernon half of his life. He attended the Middlesex School in Concord, Mass., and McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
Bruce moved his family and his company, the H.R. Kirkland Co. Inc., founded by his father, to Colorado in 1982, a company he was so proud and passionate about. Colleagues would describe him as a pioneer in the fire-alarm industry.
He led a very active life, volunteering for the New Vernon Fire Department, president of the Morristown Field Club, an avid squash player, paddle tennis player, tennis player, a skier and a sailor.
Bruce was also an animal lover, with wildlife, horses and dogs always an important part of his life.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Berkley Kirkland, and step-daughter Melissa Pearson. Loving father to Tricia Lombardo, Melissa Pearson, Debbie Pollock, Laurie Von Zweck and Honey Hutchinson. Proud grandfather to Samantha, Zoe, Phillip, Audrey, Bella and Alex. Bruce was a cherished brother of Joan, Bobby, Nancy and Malcolm.
Bruce will be remembered by family and friends as a loving father and devoted husband, with a wonderful amazing soul, with a warm sense of humor and a huge smile.
A service will be held Dec. 1 in Bermuda, his second home during the early years of his life and a very special place to him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Spirit of Bermuda Foundation (www.bermudasloop.org) Condolences can be left at horancares.com.
