Christopher "Chris" James Jacoby, 41, a resident of Evergreen for 35 years, was lost to us all as a result of a work-related vehicle accident on Monday, July 8, 2013.
Born March 3, 1972, in Denver, he forever changed his parents' lives at the age of 5 weeks as the second adopted son of Mike and BC Jacoby. The first six years of his life were spent in Littleton. In 1978, his family moved to and began their love affair with Evergreen.
Chris attended Wilmot Elementary School in Evergreen, King-Murphy Elementary School in Clear Creek County, Clear Creek Junior High School in Idaho Springs, and Evergreen Middle School and Evergreen High School. He received his high school equivalency certificate GED in May 1990.
Chris' interests and quest for knowledge led him to attend Denver's Automotive and Diesel College, the MTA truck driving school, the NJC police academy and Red Rocks Community College.
He excelled in many of these endeavors with awards like "Top Driver" and "Most Improved Over-the-Road Instruction Area." His background, and keen mechanical and technical knowledge resulted in jobs with cross-country truck driving firms to the Evergreen Fire Protection District as a 911 dispatcher/training coordinator, the Black Hawk Police Department as a communication training officer, and local automotive and parts businesses. He found passion and joy in taking photography classes and had a keen eye for capturing beauty in his photographs.
Chris was dedicated to and loved Evergreen. His devotion to his parents, Mike and BC Jacoby, his older brother Mike and Uncle Peter was boundless. He was intensely loyal to his friends. His daughters Karissa, 13, and Jocelynn "Jocie," 11, were his sun, moon and stars. He adored his two step-daughters, Jorie Ryan and Jewel Higgs, and treated them as his own. He was a father figure and role model to many.
The last year and a half of his life was probably his most beautiful journey when he met and married the love of his life, Pele. That was and is a love affair that transcends reality. An amazing final chapter to a too-short but full life.
Forty-one years is not enough time and we (Dad and Mom) would gladly trade places with him if we could. We will love him forever and know that we will see him again on the other side of the hill.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Rockland Community Church, 17 S. Mount Vernon Country Club Road, Golden.
A memorial educational fund has been established at Wells Fargo Advisors, 32186 Castle Court, Suite 300, Evergreen, CO 80439. Checks should be made to Wells Fargo Advisors "benefitting the Karissa and Jocelynn Jacoby Educational Account."
