Elaine Waugaman (1927 - 2017)

The Guest Book is expired.

Elaine Waugaman passed away at her home in Evergreen surrounded by her family and loving caregiver.
A lifelong competitor and achiever, she was born and raised in Ohio, where she was the homecoming queen of Kenmore High School in Akron and graduated from the University of Akron. She was a proud member of the Delta Gamma sorority (Akron Eta) for more than 70 years.
Elaine was a great sport. As a steadfast first mate to her loving husband of 62 years, Jack, she traveled the world sailing and golfing. She preferred to go on cruises, dressing elegantly for dinner, but often found herself climbing a ladder in a KOA campground to sleep in the sailboat that she and Jack trailered throughout the U.S. She helped Jack construct two homes, and supported Jack as he started and ran his sales business.
Always up for fun and playing games, she taught her children and grandchildren to live life to the fullest. Most of all, she loved laughing with her dear friends, either playing bridge or golfing.
She maintained her love of sports by watching TV sports shows, particularly golf and the Broncos. Her wit and sense of humor were evident every day.
The family is exceedingly grateful to the at-home longtime caregivers and to the wonderful team of caregivers at Mount Evans Hospice for their care, love and friendship.
She is survived by her three children: Jill (Jerry) Devenport of Renton, Wash., Jim (Linda) Waugaman of Anchorage, Alaska, and Gail Barnes of Evergreen; five grandchildren: Jeremy and Jane Devenport, Chris Barnes, and Zachary and Max Waugaman; and her great-grandson, Kaiden.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jack Barnes, and her husband, John Waugaman.
Services are private per her request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Anchor Center for Blind Children, 2550 Roslyn St., Denver, CO 80238, or by visiting anchorcenter.org.
