Longtime Evergreen resident Elizabeth Ann Macek passed away on June 4, 2017, at Life Care Center of Evergreen after a brief stay there.
She loved her home in Marshdale and was able to stay there until two weeks before her passing with the help of her son, Bill, and volunteers from Mount Evans Hospice.
Elizabeth, known to her friends and family as Liddy, was born on Jan. 9, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo., and married Victor in 1942 when he was in the Marines and training for service in the Pacific. He later was at the Battle of Iwo Jima and returned to her for a happy marriage of 73 years. They moved to Evergreen in 1972 with their son Bill, born in 1960.
Liddy was a nanny for two children in the Evergreen area when she was younger, and these wonderful kids still live in the area and continued to visit her until her passing. Bill thanks these wonderful people (Austin and Megan) for loving his mother so much.
A service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 1 p.m. July 7, 2017, at Staging Area A.
Liddy always said: "When I go, don't be sad. I've had a beautiful life; just have a chocolate cake and have a party." That being said, there will be a celebration of life for Liddy at the Little Bear at 2 p.m. July 9, 2017. Pizza and chocolate cake will be served. Anyone is welcome to bring a small homemade chocolate cake to share in remembrance of Elizabeth.
Thank you to all in our Evergreen community who knew her and cared for her. She loved you all.

Elizabeth was the best mother-in-law a young girl could have. I was so blessed to have her as my mother-in-law for 11 years and a dear friend after that. She loved the cakes that I would make and decorate and bring to her. She was the best grandma to my 2 children Chase and Callie. She loved the babies and would love to sing to them.
She never said a mean word about anyone and would always look for the good in people.
I really miss her and Vic her husband. They were the kindest people and enjoyed life. I have the best memories of being at their house. I will see you again someday Elizabeth and I love you very much and miss you!!

Grandma Liddy was truly the sweetest person that I have ever met and probably will ever have the pleasure of knowing. Our lives were blessed to have her with us on earth and we will be eternally greatful to live with her again someday. She loved her two grandchildren, their spouses, and her three great grandchildren so dearly. The love that she had for "the babies" was so beautiful and kind. She would song to them and tell them stories everytime we would come to see her. They miss her so much. I am so thankful to have had such a wonderful influence in mine and my children's lives. We love you so much Grandma
