Mark Norville Downare was born on Sept. 19, 1954, in Denver to Vaughn and Florine Downare. He was a hard-working man who loved his family and adored his eight grandchildren. He was beloved by all who met him because of his sense of humor and compassion.
The Guest Book is expired.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Gail Downare. The couple were married on Sept. 14, 1973, and spent their lives together for 39 years. Family include sons Mark "Casey" Downare and wife Amanda of Evergreen, and Craig Downare and wife Stephanie of Arvada; eight grandchildren, Haylee Rose, Hunter, Holten, Chelsea, Bobby, Jake, Gunner and Parker; parents Vaughn and Florine Downare of La Junta; three siblings, Chris Downare and wife Cheri of Canon City, Monte Downare and wife Tracy of Hartsel, and Becky Heine and husband Ernie of Liberty Hill, Texas; along with numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In his younger years, Mark was a rodeo competitor, entering all three rough-stock events of bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and bull riding. His rodeo career was brought to an end when a bull gored him in the face. He and Gail resided in Evergreen, where Mark continued on the path as a talented and artistic construction worker, along with running cattle his entire life.
Along with spending time with his grandchildren, Mark liked to hunt and fish but always enjoyed a good joke and liked to tease others in good humor.
A memorial service for Mark, age 58, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at the Mountain High Christian Center, the same location where Mark was dedicated to God as a child, 8444 S. U.S. Highway 285, Morrison. His final resting place will be in the family cemetery in Hartsel.
