Nera Schultze, 91, of Evergreen passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018, at the Life Care Center of Evergreen. She was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Boonville, Ind.
Nera is survived by her eight children: Sue (Gail) Ryan of Conifer, Ted Schultze of Frankfort, Ky., LeaAnn Schultze of Conifer, Sally (Phil) Barker of Evergreen, Bill (Geradine) Schultze of Lanesville, Ind., T. J. Schultze of Conifer, Jim Schultze of Fort Mitchell, Ky., and John Schultze of New Albany, Ind.; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five siblings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tim; parents Frank and Opal Bateman; and sisters Lois Gorrell and Ruth Stamps.
Nera and Tim raised their children in Bedford and Worthington, Ind., and Franklin, Ky. When Tim was transferred to Franklin, Nera started working at the Chamber of Commerce office. She moved to Colorado in 1991 and worked as the receptionist at Evergreen Memorial Park until 2005. Many appreciated her warm and friendly smile throughout the years.
Nera was one of the best moms a person could have and was loved by family and friends alike. Cooking was one of her biggest joys, and she made sure everyone was well fed. She enjoyed spending time with family, attending family reunions, bird watching, and playing euchre and bridge. She was an avid sports fan and never missed an event one of her children participated in.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville, Ind. A celebration of life will be held immediately after the service at Main Street United Methodist Church, 222 E. Main St., Boonville, IN 47601 from noon to 3 p.m.
