Valerie Lynn Winter, 52, of Evergreen passed away on Sept. 11, 2012, at Porter Hospice Center in Centennial.

Valerie was born on Jan. 27, 1960, in Ontario, Canada, and was the third of four siblings. She is survived by her father, Otto Winter of Morrison, and her mother, Barbara Winter of Evergreen; and her three siblings, Sherrie Brodie of Hickory, N.C., Mark Winter of Aurora and Sheila Winter of Parker.
Valerie moved with her family to Colorado in 1966 and maintained a permanent residence in Evergreen. She received a paralegal degree in 1979 and began her career in the legal field. She most recently worked for the firm Perkins Coie, where she thrived at her job and developed many close friends and relationships. Valerie never married. She had four nieces, one nephew and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Valerie had a passion for animals, especially greyhounds. She recently adopted a greyhound named Nigel and a mini-greyhound named Sabrina. Later, she found out Nigel had a sister named Gabby and adopted her too!
A memorial service and luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Evergreen Memorial Park, 26624 N. Turkey Creek Road.
