Heaven graciously received another angel the morning of June 30, 2018. Ron Barnes peacefully passed away in his home in Evergreen after a brief illness. He was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, graduated from high school in 1946 and married Marcella Masters in 1948.
Ron's career was in the publishing industry. With no formal education beyond high school, he successfully owned and managed numerous newspapers in the Midwest and Northern California. He retired in his mid-50s in Willits, Calif. He and his wife moved to Evergreen in 1993.
Ron is best known in Evergreen as the "social director" at Caffe di Lucca, an espresso bar his daughter owned at the Lakepoint Center from 2000 to 2010. Ron and his coffee shop buddies gathered there every morning to enjoy cappuccinos and talk about the latest happenings. He was blessed by their friendship and support until his final days on earth.
Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Marcella, and his son, Rick. He is survived by his daughter-in-law Teresa of San Angelo, Texas; daughter Paula (Rob Baker) of Evergreen; son Brent of Denver; granddaughters Jessica Morris (Tyler) of San Angelo, Texas, and Elise Randolph (Jacob) of Denver. He was blessed with a great-grandson, Landry Lee Morris, 2-½ years old.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time. The family expresses deep gratitude to Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice and asks that donations be made to Mount Evans, 3081 Bergen Peak Drive, Evergreen, CO 80439.
"So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you." John 16:22
