Winston Jerome Staehlin, born June 26, 1925, made his transition in Conroe, Texas, on Feb 2, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Bertha Staehlin, and wife Billie Jones Staehlin.
Known as Winnie, Dad and Granddaddy, Winston is survived by his wife, Joyce Gould Staehlin; son Don F. Staehlin of Palestine, Texas, daughter Valerie S. Eagle and husband Wayne Cundiff of Roanoke, Va., and son David J. Staehlin and wife Stefanie of Evergreen; grandchildren Jeremy, Carly, Sheradon and Maggie Staehlin, Jessica and Kelli Eagle, and Rory and Brynley Staehlin; eight great-grandchildren; three stepchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Having grown up in Houston, Winston served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Texas and worked as a CPA at Peat Marwick, and retired from Underwood Neuhaus in 1980.
Living in Houston, Evergreen and Conroe, Texas, Winston led a long and happy life, cherishing his family, friends and his church, and he will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb 10, 2013, at the First Church of Christ Scientist, 501 Wilson Road in Conroe, Texas.
