John "Jack" Waugaman passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2013, at his home in Evergreen.
Waving goodbye and wishing him fair weather and calm seas were his first mate and wife of 62 years, Elaine Waugaman; son Jim (Linda) Waugaman, and daughters, Jill (Jerry) Devenport and Gail Barnes.
Trained as an aeronautical engineer, he switched to a sales career. He was the principal owner for more than 30 years of Waugaman Associates Inc., an electronics manufacturer's representative firm.
As a longtime Evergreen resident, he loved the mountains of Colorado. His avocation was sailing, and he and his first mate traveled from coast to coast and from Mexico to Canada with their boat. They also sailed in the South Seas and the Caribbean. He and Elaine had the opportunity to travel with dear friends and to play golf on courses throughout the world.
A loving, adventurous, and generous man, he is an inspiration to his children, and to his grandchildren, Jeremy and Jane Devenport, Zachary and Maxwell Waugaman, and Christopher Barnes, and his great-grandson, Kaiden. He was preceded in death by his grandson Jack Barnes.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Rockland Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
