SOUTH HARWICH — Edna M. "Pokie" Bookless passed away at Cape Cod Hospital after a lengthy illness on April 27, 2008. She was the wife of the late John "Jack" Bookless, to whom she was married for 50 years.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Steven Bookless of Rhode Island; three granddaughters; several nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.
Pokie was a Radio City Music Hall Rockette for several years before leaving to be a full time homemaker. She appeared on the Jack Paar and Mike Douglas shows and What's My Line?
She served in the USO touring and entertaining the troops during World War II, and was a past president of the Rockette Alumni Association.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, Main Street, West Harwich.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
