CONRAD, SR., DEAN W., of Laurel, MD passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at his residence, at the age of 62. Dean was born on January 27, 1951 in Baltimore, MD to Dorothy (Morehead) Rayman and the late Harold Quay Conrad. Dean was a 1969 graduate of Northeast High School. Upon graduation he began working for Anne Arundel County Public Roads Division. He left Anne Arundel County Public Works to accept a position as a Police Officer with the Chestertown, MD Police Department. After a period of time he relocated to the Pasadena, MD area, and returned to Anne Arundel County Public Works and through the years, was promoted to supervisor of Northern County District Roads. Upon his retirement from Anne Arundel County Roads, he established Conrad's Lawn Service and worked at Delta Bingo in Laurel, MD. He worked both jobs until he became too ill to continue. Over the years, Dean had many hobbies he enjoyed. He once collected antique fire engines - this love for fire engines grew from the 16 years he served as a volunteer firefighter with the Lake Shore Fire Dept. He also loved camping with his wife, dogs and grandchildren. As a young man he loved riding his motorcycle. In his later years, he loved accompanying his brothers Bob, Ben and Dan on various motorcycle rides to Pennsylvania and Western Maryland. He also enjoyed bowling with family and friends. In addition to his mother, Dean is survived by his wife of 29 years, Diane Conrad; four sons, Dean W. Conrad, Jr. (Brandy), David W. Conrad (Kellee), Darren J. Conrad (Abigalee) and Alfred J. Daughtry, III; six grandchildren, Taylor, Gavin, Dylan, Finley, Elena and Owen; sister, Lee Romesburg; four brothers, Harold Conrad, Benson Conrad, Daniel Conrad and Ronald Conrad. Dean is also survived by his dearly beloved Boxer, Duchess and his grand-dog, Sadey. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Elmer S. Rayman. Family and Friends will gather at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD 21113 on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m., Officiated by Reverend Jack Fitzgerald. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dean to Community Hospice of Maryland, 4041 Powder Mill Road, Suite 600, Beltsville, MD 20705.
