Dorothy McSwain

MCSWAIN, DOROTHY - Dotti was a 41 year resident of Coronado since 1972. She was born in Pasadena, Maryland in 1932 into a family of ten children. Dotti passed away peacefully with family by her side from recurrent cancer at Coronado Hospital, Coronado California. She served 3 years in the United States Air Force beginning in 1952, along with her sister Agnes, during the Korean War. Later she attended Baltimore Business College in Baltimore Maryland and be came an executive secretary. Dotti also worked at NASNI, Coronado and NOSC, Point Loma; as well as many years for the San Diego County District Attorney's office. Dotti served as "The Flag Lady" for the Coronado Concerts In The Park series each summer at Spreckel's Park from 1991 - 2010. The flag for the concert series was flown on the United States Capitol, USS Constellation and USS Midway in 1991. She is survived by one brother, Hilary "Doc" Stallings, Sr. age 89 of Pasadena, Maryland, and many nieces and nephews throughout the United States. Her son William (Bill)) McSwain, wife Alicia along with their 3 wonderful granddaughters: Elena, Estelle, Eliza all of Coronado. Dotti is preceded in death by her siblings; Jimmy, John "Tabby", Carl, Roland "Pete", Harold, Agnes Stallings, Lucille Schepf, and Catherine Wachter Private funeral services for immediate family only were held September 30th on a picture perfect day with full military honors at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Point Loma (San Diego). The United States Flag which she loved so dearly was presented on behalf of a grateful nation to, and received proudly by, her grateful son.
