Helen Van Sickle


Helen F. Van Sickle, 84, formerly of Bowie, died Friday, Oct. 26, at the Marcus Daly Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Hamilton, MT.
She was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Forsyth, MT. Helen was raised and educated in Forsyth. She married David J. Van Sickle in February of 1946. Helen traveled extensively with David as a military wife. After David retired from the United States Air Force they continued to travel with his Department of Defense career. Together they lived in Bowie, from 1967 until 1991, before retiring to Hamilton.
Helen was a member of the Eastern Star. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting, sewing clothing of her own design and passing the love of cooking to her children.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Beatrice; and two brothers, Donald and Aubrey. She is survived by her beloved husband, David of Hamilton; three children, Marilyn Oestereich and husband William of York, PA, Philip Van Sickle and wife Bella of Bowie, and Carol Agpaoa and husband Tony of Hamilton, MT; two brothers, John of CA and Robert of Victor, MT; two sisters, Rosalyn of Hardin, MT, and Saundra of Nuevo, CA; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton, MT with burial to follow at the Western Montana Veterans Cemetery in Missoula, MT. Condolences may be left for the family at
