Janet McNair Hatch passed away on August 5, 2014 in Broomall, Pennsylvania. She was 97. Janet was one of eight children born in Annapolis, MD to Captain Frederick Vallette McNair and Agnes Barton Duer. She spent her early years in Panama, returning to Annapolis where she graduated from high school. She lived in New York City where she worked for Mademoiselle magazine and in Washington DC for the War Department. She was married to William Hatch (deceased) and lived in Baltimore, MD where she worked at Roland Park Country Day School. She moved to Coronado CA and lived there for 30 years. She was secretary to the Chief of Police for Coronado for 14 years. After retiring she worked for the Coronado Rotary Club. She was an involved member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was a gourmet cook, bridge player and avid birder. In 2001, she moved to the Philadelphia area. She is survived by her two daughters: Jill Munder (Raymond) of Wayne, PA and Martha Hatch (Parker Oborn) of Buffalo Creek, CO. She has 4 grandchildren: Jennifer O'Connor, Peter Veit, Malina Larimar and Daniel Veit and 6 great-grandchildren. A generous, fun, caring woman, she reached out and made this world a more loving and kind place and her love will fill our hearts forever. Contributions may be made to the Audubon Society.

I have great memories of growing up as your niece and sharing summertimes with you, Jill and Martha (picking berries, avoiding the goats, etc.). I am so glad Bob was able to meet you and that we were able to help celebrate your 90th birthday! You are now with Mom and the rest of the McNair tribe! With Love - Sandy and Bob

A kind, wise, loving Auntie who was always there with loving words of wisdom and support throughout my life. The fond memories I have of time spent with you and daughters bring lots of smiles to me (I remember your grass-cutting goat who also loved cigarettes). I miss you!!!!

Janet, my memories of you are warm and gentle. And oh, such style! I felt loved and genuinely welcomed by you, one of the real ladies in my life. Your voice is as vivid in my memory as it was the last time I saw you (1970). I send my best to Jill, Martha, and all of your family members. With love, your Goddaughter,
