Malcolm Mason

Malcolm "Ray" Mason, 78, a long-time resident of Edgewater, died peacefully April 7 surrounded by family at the Mandrin Inpatient Care Center, in Harwood. Born November 10, 1934 in Eastport to the late Edward and Mabel Stallings Mason, he attended Eastport Methodist Church. Ray retired from McCrone, Inc. where he worked as a surveyor for 43 years. Ray was a member of the Elks Lodge #622, American Legion Post #226, Knights of Pythias Lodge #8, Moose Lodge #296 and the Fleet Reserve Club of Annapolis. He played softball as a pitcher with the Eastport league. He enjoyed going to parties, entertaining and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, William "Billy" Mason. Ray is survived by his wife of 27 years, Frances Rodriguez Mason; his mother-in-law, Felicita Tellez, who lived with them; five children, Timothy and Michael Mason, Jody (Doug) Mason Baker, Julie (Ed) Mason Walters and Kim Mason Moore; three brothers, Robert "Speedy," Harvey and Sherman Mason; sister, Betty Mason Hardesty; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and his former wife, Joan Ward. Friends are invited to Ray's Life Celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater where his funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Thursday, April 11. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
