GORMAN, MICHAEL PATRICK "MIKE, Mr. Michael Patrick "Mike" Gorman, age 49, of Fernandina Beach, FL, originally from Annapolis, MD, passed away on Sunday evening, June 30, 2013 at Baptist Medical Center-Nassau on Amelia Island, FL. He was the second oldest of five children born to Patrick Joseph and Inge Rita Selner Gorman. He graduated from Martin Spalding Catholic High School (now Archbishop Spalding), in Severn, MD. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, College Park, and on August 27, 1988, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Eilish Walsh, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis. They lived on Kent Island where Mike enjoyed fishing and boating on the weekends while working in marketing for his father's company, Encore Marketing, in Lanham, MD. He also spent a short time assigned to new business efforts for Encore in Hong Kong, and then left Encore to work as a marketer for Eagle Publishing in Washington, DC. During this time, he and Mary had two children, Maggie and Michael. In 2001, the family moved to Marshall, VA for Mike's new job venture as an online marketing executive for a computer testing and certification firm, Brainbench, Inc. After Brainbench, he conceptualized and test-marketed a version of an AARP-type membership club in Germany, and then worked for American Target Advertising, in Manassas, VA. Always entrepreneurial and adventurous at heart, Mike pursued his dream of owning a business by purchasing an indoor shooting range and shop in Yulee, FL, called Second Amendment, Inc. He renamed it Second Amendment Outfitters to fit his vision of the business branching out into other outdoor sports and services. A man of many passions, in addition to fishing and boating, Mike enjoyed both water and snow skiing, shooting and hunting. He was also an avid music-lover and a great cook and griller. Mike leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Mary Walsh Gorman, Fernandina Beach, FL; their daughter, Margaret Anne (Maggie) Gorman, a rising senior at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL; their son, Michael David Gorman, Fernandina Beach and an incoming freshman at West Virginia University; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pat (Rita) Gorman, II, Charleston, SC; two brothers, Patrick Gorman, III (Cheryl), Annapolis, MD and Ryan Gorman (Nina), Santa Marta, Magdalena, Columbia, SA; two sisters, Christa Ray (Lawrence), Boulder, CO; and Victoria "Vicki" Gorman (Greg Karr), Salt Lake City, UT; a niece, Brigid, and a nephew, P.J.
