Richard Burke

Richard E. Burke, of Bowie, died peacefully at his home on December 30. He was born in June 1927 in New Bedford, Massachusetts (the eldest son of eight) to George and Helen Burke. Richard was a decorated Army Intelligence, Chief Warrant Officer IV, and served in both WWII as well as the Korean War. Once retiring from the military, he and his family moved to Bowie, and he began a 30-year career with the Prince George's County Police Department. Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Jane Burke. He is survived by his five children, Daniel, Shawn (wife Christine), Kerry, Jonathan (wife Bonnie) and daughter, Julie (husband Steven); and his six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Richard was enrolled in the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences anatomical gift program at the F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine in Bethesda. Services for his passing will be held at a later date at Arlington Memorial Cemetery. Please contact family directly for additional details.
