Roberta Petrillo

PETRILLO, ROBERTA "BOBBI" LEE, 67, of Lothian, MD, passed away at her residence in Lothian, MD on October 7, 2013. She was born on July 16, 1946, in Ogdensburg, NY. Bobbi was the daughter of the late Robert Powers Gooding and the late Leonore Marble Gooding. Bobbi was predeceased by her husband, Jasper "Pete" W. Petrillo and stepdaughter, Debra S. Petrillo. Bobbi was active in many volunteer organizations. Bobbi was a member of the Breast Cancer Support Group in Calvert County (The Bosom Buddies). She was creative in the many ways she supported their fund raising activities. She was chair of the poultry division for the Prince George's County Fair for many years. She was an animal lover who often adopted or rescued many breeds of animals, including dogs, cats and birds. She enjoyed her family, particularly her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was especially fond of holidays and always found something special for the celebration. She was happy to be outdoors gardening, on trail rides or attending horse riding events and cat shows; buying at auctions; looking for sharks' teeth, and going on picnics. Bobbi was a talented artist who did scenic window painting for businesses in the area for the various holidays. She was an award-winning hairdresser. Bobbi changed careers and went to work for the Naval Sea Systems Command where she excelled. She rose through the ranks from a file clerk to a Freedom of Information Act specialist. Bobbi is survived by her sons, John E. Smith, III, Tucson, AZ, Angelo T. Nappi (Kathy), Waterford, VA; stepsons, Jasper W. Petrillo (Lolly) Huntingtown, MD, and James A. Petrillo (Joyce), Harrington, DE; brother, Neal R. Gooding, Beltsville, MD, sisters, Judy R. Gooding, Maple Valley, WA and Christine E. Gardner, Mechanicsville, MD; grandchildren, Nicholas B. Nappi, Jessica R. Nappi, Christopher J. Petrillo, Jason M. Petrillo, James A. Petrillo Jr., Vincent Petrillo; great grandchildren, Jason M. Petrillo, Martin A. Petrillo; nephews, Marcus J. Godo, William R. Gardner III, niece, Tiffany L. Mitsouras (Nicholas); and companion Raymond Peeples. The family will receive friends for a Memorial Gathering at The Hall at Huntingtown, 4030 Old Town Road, Huntingtown, MD, on November 9, 2013, at 2:00 PM.
