Virginia Flannery

Virginia Marie Flannery, 92, of Sudlersville, died October 9 at her home. Mrs. Flannery was born December 11, 1920, in Lynchburg, VA the daughter of the late Fieldon Waggoner and Marie Pearson Waggoner. During World War II, Mrs. Flannery worked at the Navy Yard as an inspector. She later worked at the Veterans Administration, where she met her husband, Thomas L. Flannery Sr. They married in 1947. Mrs. Flannery lived in River Terrace, Washington, DC, and later moved to Hyattsville and Greenbelt. She also lived in Wheaton, Riva, and Eustis, FL before moving to Sudlersville with her husband in 2002. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, taking care of her family. Mrs. Flannery enjoyed sewing and traveling by rail to visit and spend time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Thomas L. Flannery Sr. of Sudlersville; one daughter, Sharon Andrews and husband Timothy of Sudlersville; one son, Thomas L. Flannery Jr. and wife Eileen of Homosassa, FL; one sister, Evelyn Webster of Eustis, FL; and two grandchildren, Tara Andrews of Riva, and Sean Andrews of Sudlersville. Services will be private.
