William Harris Jr.

HARRIS JR., WILLIAM RICHARD DICK, 77, a 39 year resident of Gambrills, MD and previously of the Baltimore area, died June 22, 2014, surrounded by family at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was born March 11, 1937 in Wilkes-Barre, PA and moved to West Baltimore at age two. A 1955 graduate of Milford Mill High School, he was employed as a caddy during his teen years, and was a golfer from the age of 11 to 73 years old. Dick served in the US Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959. Employed in Service Trucking from 1959 to 1966, and Yellow Freight from 1966 to 2000, he was a Million Miler Driver, accident free and all local during his career. A member of Teamsters Local 557, Local 639, he also enjoyed sports. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lou Harris; the prides of his life - his children, Billy Harris (Niki) of Centreville, MD and Bonnie Gartland (Eric) of Westminster, MD; and the joys of his life - his grandchildren, Brianna and Christopher Harris. A celebration of his life will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Hardesty Funeral Home P.A., 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills, MD 21054. Interment private.
