William Scrimgeour

William "Bill" McGregor Scrimgeour, 85, a lifelong resident of Edgewater, died January 6 at Prince George's Hospital Center. Born August 22, 1927 in Silver Spring to the late C. Bailey and Evelyn Scrimgeour, Bill served in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1945 to 1947. He was member of Davidsonville United Methodist Church. Bill enjoyed fishing, boating, watching western movies, philanthropy, vacationing at their home in Kitty Hawk, NC and coin collecting. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association; a member of the International Association of Lions Club; Officer and member of the Silver Triangle Ruritan Club; received the Garland Gray Award from the Ruritan National Foundation for a number of years; and member of the National Elks Club. He is survived by his wife, June Bailey Scrimgeour of Edgewater, whom he married April 27, 1962; daughter, Patricia Scrimgeour of Pensacola, FL; step-son, Steven Banks of Gaithersburg; brother, Walter Scrimgeour of Prescott, AZ; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 9 at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc., 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 10 at the Davidsonville United Methodist Church, 819 West Central Ave., Davidsonville. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland.
