Mary Boak Obituary

Mary Francis Campbell Boak "Bushy," 91, an Annapolis resident, died March 26 in Annapolis. She was born February 5, 1922 in Mountain View, Arkansas. Attending Hendrix College in Arkansas, she went to work for the Department of Defense with the Army, and at the Pentagon as an executive secretary. Married to David Boak in 1950 at the Washington Cathedral, she and her husband built their own cottage on Martha's Vineyard, where they spent their summers for over 50 years. Her interests included bird watching, painting, ikebana, and reading. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006. Mary is survived by her brother, Rev. J. Donald Campbell, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws, godchildren, and many dear friends. Friends and family may call at 12 noon on Saturday, April 13, with a memorial service at 12:30 p.m., at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc., 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Washington National Cathedral, or to the Island Elderly Housing, Inc., 60 B Village Rd., Vineyard Haven, MA 02568.
