Alfred "Bud" A. Reed, 85, a resident of Arnold, died June 30 at Annapolitan Assisted Living in Annapolis. He was born August 11, 1927 in Indianapolis, IN, to his late parents, Robert G. Reed Sr. and Ruth Settle Reed. He was also raised in Indianapolis and graduated from Thomas Carr High School in 1945 where he participated in track and field. He attended Wooster College in Wooster, OH and seven years of night school at Purdue University, IN. Al entered the U.S. Army in 1945, and then was called upon again to serve during the Korean Conflict in 1950. Al was a Sales Engineer for Anning -Johnson in Indianapolis; a Sales Manager for Architectural Systems; worked for Roper Eastern Corporation in Baltimore; and was a Regional Sales Manager for Chicago Metallic Corporation in Baltimore, retiring in 1993. In his retirement he was a Representative for Sonny Scaffolds and worked as a Ranger at Bay Hills Golf Course. Al was an active member of Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and Deacon. He also sang in the Church Choir. His hobbies included golfing, and he was a sports car enthusiast. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Robert G. Reed, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Julia Ann Reed (nee Harbert); son, Bruce Reed and his wife, Melanie Scheetz of St. Louis, MO; sister, Mary Jo Wells and her husband, Clayton of Mason, MI, grandson, Joseph Reed; and granddaughter, Jonay Reed; A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 6 at at Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church, 1281 Green Holly Drive, Annapolis. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church, 1281 Green Holly Drive, Annapolis, MD 21409.
