Edward Bowman Obituary

BOWMAN, EDWARD G. On March 13, 2013, Edward G. Bowman passed away at the age of 78. Born in North Dakota, Ed lived in Glen Burnie since 1970. Beloved husband of 52 years to the late Jacquelyn A. Bowman; Devoted father of Jaye Ann Thompson of Severna Park and her husband Don, and Patricia Preston and her husband Rob of Severna Park; Loving brother of Alice Hucko of California and Ada Racey of Pennsylvania; Cherished grandfather of Richard and Elizabeth Thompson and Andrew, Emily and Kaitlyn Preston. Ed graduated from Plainview High School in Texas. He served his country with a career in the United States Air Force. His military career took him to Alaska, Spain, Mississippi, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Palma, Majorca. After retiring, he went to work in logistics for Westinghouse (which was later Northrop Grumman) until retiring again. Ed was a member of the Moose, the Pascal Senior Center, the Glen Burnie UMC, the Dundee Association of which he was an officer and had served as a member and president of the Methodist Men. Ed volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 13 years, as well as serving as a Chief Republican judge for elections for 13 years. He was also a referee for 20 years for the Golden Triangle. Ed loved bowling, playing pinochle, tending to his vegetable garden and watching westerns. Just recently he was able to fulfill a lifelong goal of going to the Price Is Right game show. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. There will be a visitation at the family owned Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home, 421 Crain Hwy SE in Glen Burnie on Saturday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Glen Burnie UMC located at 5 Second Ave. SE in Glen Burnie. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be to the church.
