Erin Catterton Obituary

Erin Morgan Catterton, affectionately known as "Pete", 22, beautiful daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter, cousin and friend passed away July 29, 2015, with her family and friends by her side at the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood, MD. Erin was a child brain cancer survivor at the age of four and was taken too soon by uterine cancer. She loved Hello Kitty, horses, tinkerbell, to wear pink, paint, draw, watch Price is Right & QVC, listen to country music, take her chances on scratch-offs, play bingo for hours, share her amazing giggle with others and walk 3.1 miles annually at the Race for Hope raising funds for Brain Cancer in Washington, D.C. She was a dog walker to Bandit and Rosie who will miss her treats. Erin continues to be a constant inspiration and strong survivor presence to those who have suffered from or supported those with cancer. Erin is preceded in death by grandfather, Bill Catterton "Pop", of Harwood, MD and her faithful dogs Snow White and Lewis. Erin Morgan Catterton is my angel granddaughter in heaven with her beloved Pop Catterton. I have only known two people in my life who were perfect: 1) Grandmother Nellie Proctor 2) Granddaughter Erin Morgan Catterton. They lived the Golden Rule--treat others as you want to be treated!
I never heard Erin nor Grandmother Proctor say a bad/unkind word about anyone. They only repeated good things about others. If someone happened to say an unkind remark about another--they would softly say, 'Please don't say unkind things about them. They did not mean to do or say anything wrong. They are very nice people. I like them.' Whenever possible, Erin, Grandmother Proctor would always do for others before they did something for themselves. I would go shopping with Erin, she would always want buy something for others--never for her. She loved buying for others. I remember the last time we went to the U.S. Naval Academy Mid Store--Erin went around the whole store & found something for everyone in her family. When we got to the counter--she looked at me as if to say...'will you pay for me...I am a little short of $'.... which of course, I always did. My gift to her was the gifts I purchased so she could give them to those she loved. Once before Easter, I took Erin to a family-owned candy store--where they made the candy on site. I had made arrangements for Erin to receive special treatment. The owner took gave Erin a special apron with the store logo on it...and then took Erin back to the candy shop & let her make some chocolate candy. Erin was so excited when she came back. She went and purchased special chocolate candy for everyone in her family. We started home '3' times--when we got about a block away--she quietly asked me (each time) if we could go back--as she thought of someone else she wanted to buy candy for. It was precious. Of course, each of the 3 times, I turned around and we went back. Erin was so excited with her purchases, she could hardly wait for Easter to present them to her family, loved ones. Erin LOVED to give--she was like my momma (Grandmother Ford) in that way. Erin loved to cook, bake for her family, loved ones. This was like Grandmother Proctor--who would have me take special food she had made to give her beloved neighbors, loved ones. My Grandmother Proctor was always reading her bible, praying for others, or baking rolls, pies to give those she loved. Erin was usually sitting on the sofa with her two beloved puppies on her lap...planning her next gift giving adventure. I love and miss my beloved Erin and Grandmother Proctor every day! They are in heaven with God as angels--but, they will remain in my heart, soul forever. They were treasures! The BEST. Thank You God for letting me have these two loving, precious souls in my life! Nana Connie
