Eugenia Cheney Hamilton "Gene", 84, died March 11 in Annapolis. She was born in Rochester, NY and moved to Maryland with her parents Richard and Ruth Cheney and sister Carolyn. She graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School and attended George Washington University in Washington, DC. She and her family lived in Pennsylvania for many years where she was employed by Penn State University as assistant to the dean. Mrs. Hamilton moved to Annapolis and worked as support staff and assistant to the dean for Anne Arundel Community College for more than twenty years. Eugenia, known as Gene, was an avid sailor for most of her life and was deeply interested in art, literature and outdoor sports such as skiing and cycling. She is survived by two sons, Charles Graham Hamilton (Karen) and Robert Warren Hamilton (Judy Kalinyak); sister, Carolyn Smith (Charles) of Annapolis; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Kristine Hamilton; four nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday March 18 at the Hardesty Funeral Home, P.A., 12 Ridgely Avenue, Annapolis. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
