Jane Storrs Obituary

STORRS, JANE MONTGOMERY, 68, a 34-year resident of Millersville, passed away April 25, 2013 in Annapolis after a five-year battle with multiple myeloma. Born September 22, 1944, in Jasper, Alabama, Jane earned a B.S. In Mathematics from Duke University and a Masters in Conflict Resolution from George Mason University. Her employment included Maryland National Bank, Blind Industries & Services of Maryland, Horizons Newspaper, and the Maryland Department of Agriculture. She was a legendary breadmaker. She met the Queen of the Netherlands and dined with the Crown Prince of Japan. Her hobbies included gardening, entertaining, playing bridge, and traveling. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Storrs, whom she married December 28, 1968 and who died in 2010. She is survived by her son, Robert Gardner Storrs of Moraga, CA; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Storrs of Millersville, MD; brother, Albert Gallatin Montgomery of Boston, MA; two brothers-in-law, Robert Samuel Storrs of Havre de Grace, MD and Charles Gardner Storrs of Mobile, AL; and three grandchildren, Lillian Rose Storrs, Evelyn Grace Storrs, and Samuel Clement Storrs, all of Moraga, CA. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 until funeral service at 3 p.m., Monday, at Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills. Interment is private. To continue Jane's love of gardening and tradition of sharing her passion with those around her, we are working with the Indian Creek Middle School to support their horticultural education and their Garden Club, giving students the chance to "play in the dirt" just like Jane loved to do. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Indian Creek School. Make checks out to: Indian Creek School, Attn: In Memory of Jane Storrs, 680 Evergreen Road, Crownsville, MD 21032.
