BATHURST, LARRY GENE, a 10-year resident of Pasadena, MD and former long time resident of Dundalk, MD passed away on Easter Sunday April 24, 2011. He was 71. Larry was born on October 20, 1939 in Altoona, PA, the second son of Gerald Franklin Bathurst & Mary Ehgartner Bathurst. His father moved the family to Baltimore for work when he was young. In 1957 while attending Patterson High School, this then shy, but handsome young man met the love of his life, Frances Justina Schuler. They married that year and were together for the rest of his life. After school Larry began his 41 year career as a life insurance agent where his work ethic, professionalism, high moral standard and excellent people skills made him the Sun Life Insurance Company's number one sales agent for many consecutive years. Respectfully referred to as "the Legend" by his late co-workers, he formerly held the position of President of the Independent Insurance Agents Union of Maryland. A true outdoorsman, Larry enjoyed crabbing, fishing, and hunting with his two brothers, Richard and Jerry and other family members and friends. Larry and Fran raised two girls and a boy; all of them graduating college. While health issues plagued him during retirement, he still truly enjoyed seeing his children and grandchildren achieve success in life and spending time with them and his wife at their Pasadena home or at their vacation getaways in Ocean City, MD and Huntingdon, PA. He is survived by Fran, his loving wife of 52 years, his two daughters and son, Bonnie Jean Aiello and husband David of Severna Park, MD, Sandy Jean Bathurst and fiancé Thomas Eli Greear of Dundalk, MD and Robert Gerald Bathurst and wife Beth, of Glen Burnie, MD, and three grandchildren Emily, Alex and Brett. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, April 27th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm and on Thursday, April 28th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, April 29th at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park.
