I had heard that Trip was a Realtor in Key West so I Googled him today. Sadly, I saw this obituary. I knew Trip in our childhoods: I was a neighbor and friend, although I am 2 years older, in a community called Ulmstead Estates outside Annapolis, Maryland, where we all had horses. He was a funny, charming boy when I knew him and I see that grin I remember in the obit picture. My father was a horse breeder and cavalry officer who often gave all the kids riding lessons. I was a little jealous of Trip because my father said “he has one of the best seats I have seen in a young rider.” Believe me, my polo/Grand Prix jumping father did not give that praise lightly! So glad to see Trip stuck with his horse keeping talent and made it to the top!!! I think he would smile knowing I have a horse ranch in Texas. Blessings to the Hoffmans and I’m sorry for their loss of this delightful man. 2/17/2021

So very sorry to read of Trip's passing in The Chronicle..no one loved horses anymore than he did..how special he was..he rode my horse, Willie when he was just out of McDonogh and going for his Pony Club "A" and U.S. team status..the horse loved him dearly and performed at his utmost ..what a team they made..what a rider..such a great person who made so many friends!
He will be missed..my heart goes out to the family. I share your sadness.

I am stunned and devastated to read today in The Chronicle of Trip's death. He was my first serious crush and stayed a dear friend since Porlock. We had such times together and I loved him so much, and I keep remembering him laughing - he was always so full of life and fun. In almost any situation, he could laugh! I cannot imagine him gone. I was so lucky to see him in 2010 in Alton IL on his Great Loop trip - so handsome on an autumn afternoon walking along the riverside with his two Jacks, unchanged after nearly 30 years. Harry and I had dinner with him and it was as though no time had passed. I always assumed we would cross paths again. If I am this sad, I cannot imagine how the family feels - they welcomed me to Maryland many years ago and I have fond memories of my visit. Trip loved his family so much and was so proud of his siblings and nieces and nephews - I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Your sadness is shared by all who knew Trip - he was such a wonderful person! I will never forget him, and though we lately only did Christmas cards and letters, I will miss him and treasure his laughing memory.

Dearest Jo and Bud and family,
We were so sad to learn of Trip's passing. We feel we were so blessed to have met him at your recent trip to Minneapolis. He certainly was a very special person. He evoked all the best qualities that any parent or sibling would want in your family.
Our heart is broken for all of you. Know that you are in our prayers. Sadly, there is nothing we can write to ease your devastation, only hoping that the outreach of all your loving friends may give you a moment of solace..
We thank the Lord that all of you knew the special love you shared with Trip and those memories are yours forever until you meet again.
With deepest sympathy and love, Annella and Tom Dosdall

Sad to learn of Trip's death. He and his team added much to our family, when they ran Greenbriar Stables in Annapolis. Great memories.
