Robert Charles Allen, 80, a resident of Pasadena, died January 2 at his home due to a lengthy illness.
He was born July 12, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Donald and Opal Allen. In Robert's junior year in high school, the family moved to Pasadena, Calif., where he graduated from Polytechnic High School. He attended two years of community college before serving in the U.S. Army, where he fought in the Punchbowl, Heartbreak Ridge and Bloody Ridge battles of the Korean War.
Robert worked as a photo engraver for the Alco Gravure Color Printing Company in Los Angeles, transferring to Maryland in 1970. He was a member of Printing Local 31, Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Granite Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and, as a kid, worked as a caddy for professional golfers. He is survived by his wife, Alberta J. Allen (nee Partch); five children, Colleen Masters of Dana Point, Calif., Rona Baab of Glen Burnie, Steven Allen of Redding, Calif., Bobbie Allen Phillips of Millersville and Ronald S. Allen of Pasadena; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may attend a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 6 at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 7 at Granite Baptist Church. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
