William Boyd Henderson, 85, of Annapolis, died July 2 in Annapolis. He was born April 8, 1928 in Elkton, TN, the son of William Warren Henderson and Berneece Bramlett Boyd Henderson. Bill graduated in Nashville, TN in 1946 from West End High School, and received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering on a NROTC Scholarship from Vanderbilt University in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War in the Submarine Corp and on the USS Salem. Bill was past vice president of Westinghouse Corp, past president of Buell Envirotech, Lebanon, PA and retired as president of Trident Engineering, Annapolis. Bill was very active in the communities he resided in, including more recently, the Rotary Club of Annapolis, Calvary United Methodist Church, Annapolis, volunteer at the Maryland Therapeutic Riding Program and the Fayette County, PA Fair Board of Directors. Bill also enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising cattle, farming, visiting farmer's markets and sharing memories with family and close friends. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Diane Henderson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Virginia Ferguson Henderson; a son, Dr. William Boyd Henderson II and wife Dr. Joan Henderson of Elizabethtown, PA; two daughters, Kimberly Henderson Cooney and husband John of Collegeville, PA, and Karen Henderson Kelly and husband Christopher of Fairfax Station, VA; seven grandchildren, Cassi Alexandra, Bryan, Haley, Sean, Ryan and Liam; a brother, Robert Phillip Henderson and wife Margaret of Palm Coast, FL; sister-in-law Sara Ferguson Bryson and husband Dan of Hopwood, PA; brother-in-law A.D. Ferguson of Uniontown, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Andrew D. Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA 15401 and the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc., 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, MD 21401. Family and friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5, at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 Rowe Blvd, Annapolis, followed by a service celebrating Bill's life at 1 p.m. with Rev. Harold B. Wright II and Rev. Alicia Vanisko as co-officiants. Visitation will continue from noon until 2 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., on Saturday, July 6, in the Ferguson Funeral Home, Uniontown, PA with Rev. Don Kephart officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Uniontown, PA. The family suggests donations may be made in Bill's memory to the USS Salem Assoc., 21605 Queen Elizabeth Ct, Leesburg, FL 34748.
