William "Babe" C. Porter, Sr., 87, a 58-year resident of Glen Burnie and formerly of Baltimore, died August 27 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Babe was born January 22, 1926 in Baltimore to the late Lemuel and Catherine Porter. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a World War II veteran. Babe was a State Trooper during the 1960's and later founded The Drive Rite Driving School in Glen Burnie with his wife Betty. Babe was a member of the American Legion #195 and the State Police Alumni. Babe is preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Porter. He is survived by three sons, Bill Porter Jr. of Baltimore, Carl Porter of Glen Burnie, and Mark Porter of Glen Burnie; daughter, Debbie J. Brooks of Pasadena; ten grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday and Monday at the Stallings Funeral Home, PA, where funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Tuesday.
