W. "Fred" Smitley Sr., 74, a 27 year resident of Pasadena and formerly of Curtis Bay, died on March 1, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was born on February 17, 1940 in Parsons, WV to the late Frank and Georgia Smitley. Mr. Smitley was an owner operator of his trucking company for over 40 years. He was a member of the Baltimore Moose. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, and crabbing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smitley is preceded in death by his sister, Louise Barton. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jeanette Smitley; his son, W. Fred Smitley Jr. and his wife, Shari, of Pasadena; his daughter, Patty A. Hodges and her husband, John, of Pasadena; his brother, Frank Smitley of Pasadena; his sisters, Frankie Geisbert of Pasadena, and Rose Hoskins of Arnold; his grandchildren, John, Jennifer and Tabitha; and his great-grandchildren, Billy "Bubba" and Brooke. Friends may call today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stallings Funeral Home, P.A., where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 6. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery.
