Helen "Mintie/Nan" Likens, 77, a 56-year resident of Riva, died March 12 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a short illness. Born August 21, 1936 in Elkridge, she was a homemaker and caretaker of children most of her life. Helen was a National Bowling Champion and enjoyed bingo, board games, crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Dale Likens, who died March 16, 1977; and one sister, Betty (Emma) Hibbard. Helen is survived by her daughter, Deborah Serfass and her husband, Richard, of Edgewater; four brothers, Bud, William, Richard and Ernest Stivers; three sisters, Joyce Goetz, Sue Finley and Shirley Benson; two grandchildren, Sean Victor Serfass and Jody Dale Fuchs; two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Hunter Fuchs; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, March 15.
